General Questions

+ How do I book a consultation?

You can book directly through our website using the below button.

If you feel that you would like to chat before booking, please reach out.

For emergencies and additional availability, please contact us at (270) 938-3404 (text or call).

+ Do you have an office?

Yes, our office is located in Northern Warren County/Plum Springs area. Our address is 212 Bill Ferguson Road Bowling Green, KY 42101

+ Can I bring additional people to the office with me?

We only allow one support person to attend your office consultation with you. This does not include siblings/other children. Please call (270) 938-3404 if you need to request an exception to our policy.

+ Do you provide in home consultations?

Yes, our in home service area is Bowling Green, KY and the surrounding 20 mile radius. The distance will be calculated from our office. Travel surcharges apply for visits greater than 20 miles.

+ Do you charge a travel fee for in home consults?

If you are in our service area, we don't. If you aren't in our service area, we wish we didn’t have to, but, when we have to drive more than 30 minutes to see you, that leaves us less time in the day to see other clients. You can always come and see us in our office, if you want to avoid the additional fees.

+ Are you in network with my insurance?

We do not accept insurance. We can provide you with a superbill that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement for our services; unfortunately we can’t guarantee that they’ll do so. We do not offer refunds for services rendered for any reason.

+ Why should I seek care from A Mother’s Village instead of a provider in network with my insurance?

We provide individualized expert care in an intimate space. This isn’t a clinic and you aren’t just a “medical number” to us. You walk in the door a family who needs help, support, and guidance. But, you leave our office feeling like you met your best friend for dinner. Not only did you eat your favorite meal, you had the best conversation. The entire time you felt loved, heard, protected, AND you were given expert based guidance.

We pride ourselves on NOT being a “one-stop shop” for you and your baby’s care.

Why?

Care in this format is biased, rushed, and benefits financially from suggesting additional procedures and tests (ex: tongue tie release). We also know that you cannot be an expert in all fields and specialities. When providers try to wear multiple hats and deliver various services, they will always compromise their care. We are the experts of feeding babies, and we will help you do just that. If your baby needs bodywork, tongue tie release, or additional tests/procedures, we will send you to the expert in those fields. We have strict referral requirements, and we will not provide referrals to any provider who fails to meet our rigorous standard of care. Not only do we interview, shadow, and routinely evaluate all of our referral sources, but we also have an intimate and professional working relationship with all of them.

When you are calculating expenses from different providers, consider if “in network providers” are billing and filing claims for the baby AND mother/lactating person. If you have a deductible that hasn’t been met, copays, or coinsurance, you likely will be paying the same amount (or sometimes even MORE) than a self pay, out of pocket visit with us.

We believe that you are the expert of your family, and we must work collaboratively to reach your goals and help you thrive.

+ You will fix all my problems during our visit, right?

We hope so! Some problems can be solved immediately. Others take practice, hard work, follow up visits, and the element of time. We will be here for you every step of the way to guide you and be your #1 fan.

+ I have a breastfeeding or pumping problem/question. I don't really feel like I need consultation, can I just text you?

No, sorry! We can’t give you individualized advice or care without a signed consent form, your health history, and a complete assessment. This would be irresponsible and unethical. Feel free to send us a message to see if we would be a good fit, though.

What we can help with...

+ I can't get my baby to take a bottle- can you help?

Yes, we are “bottle refuser” experts! There is always a reason baby won't (or is having trouble) taking a bottle. We can get to the bottom of it. We have lots of tricks.

+ My baby is on formula- can you help?

Yes, we work with families who are supplementing with formula, donor milk, and who exclusively formula feed. For example, families book our services for oral assessments, post frenectomy help, bottle refusal, or other issues/concerns with bottles.

+ I have multiples- can you help?

YES!!! Multiples are so fun. Give us all the babies.

+ I want to know if my baby has a tongue tie- can you help?

Yes, we can complete a functional oral assessment, which includes assessing for indicators, signs, and symptoms of oral restrictions (tongue, lip, or buccal ties). Referrals will be made to THE best release provider, if necessary.

+ I exclusively pump- can you help?

YES! EPing is a full time job. We work with EPing families all of the time to help with supply, comfortability, and developing a schedule that allows you to maintain your sanity while reaching your goals.

+ I'm tandem nursing- can you help?

YES! We can help you if you are tandem nursing and want to continue or if you wish to stop.

+ I want to wean- can you help?

Of course! Whether your baby is 2 weeks or 4 years old, we won't try to convince you to keep breastfeeding or shame you. If it isn't working for the lactating parent AND the baby, then it simply isn't working. We can help you figure out a plan to fully or partially wean.

+ I need help building a stash/returning to work/etc- can you help?

Yes. Clients find these consults VERY helpful.

+ I'm pregnant- can you help me now?

Yes, we happily do prenatal consults to help you launch your breastfeeding journey, whether this is your first baby or last. There can be things in your health history or anatomy that affect lactation, and we can make sure that you have a solid plan in place to address these issues before they present.

After baby is born, families will often contact us in the first couple of days of baby’s life to then schedule the first consultation around day #3-6. If things aren’t going well, then we can certainly meet sooner, even while you are still in the hospital, if you are having a hospital birth.
